The City of Mississauga was incorporated on January 1st, 1974 with the amalgamation of the Towns of Port Credit, Streetsville and the Town of Mississauga. The first City of Mississauga election was held on October 1st, 1973 and the ceremonial inauguration of the newly formed City of Mississauga council took place on January 16th, 1974 at Glenforest Secondary School. This time on Sauga 50-for-50, take a RARE listen to the inauguration of council courtesy of Dr. Martin Dobkin, the first mayor of the City of Mississauga.
