Each episode gives you a byte sized slice of the history of Mississauga from the beginnings over 10,000 years ago through milestones in history such as the War of 1812, the World Wars, and the development of a city through the amalgamation of lost villages. We look at the historic people, places, and events, that define our city today, including peering into the Darker Side of our history. This talk will focus on relationships to water and Anishinaabe traditional practices. Explore an indigenous perspective on the importance of water with Ancestral Knowledge keeper and Anishinaabe Traditional Grandmother Kim Wheatley. Kim is Turtle clan and a band member of Shawanaga First Nation Reserve. She is a multi-award winning public speaker who has presented locally, nationally and internationally for three decades. As a long-time Water Walker Grandmother, Kim has coauthored four books focused on water, wetlands and the creatures that inhabit those spaces. She is a ceremonialist, artist, event organizer, singer, drummer and cultural consultant.
